The teneres entered in the Dakar by Sonauto were equipped with upturned leather. The upturned leather is like sealskin, it slides forward to recover the tank between the legs when braking and grips when accelerating to stay seated.
It also has more pleasant breathing properties for the rider's ass, than the commonly used vinyl.
